How to Use the DJ Dashboard for Song Requests

The DJ Dashboard lets guests request songs directly from their phones, with requests appearing in real-time for your DJ to see. No more walking up to the DJ booth - guests simply scan a QR code or visit a link to submit their song requests.

How It Works

  1. Share the link - Give guests the Song Request Form link or display the QR code at your venue
  2. Guests request songs - Guests submit their favorite songs from their phones
  3. DJ sees requests - Requests appear in real-time on the DJ Dashboard for the DJ to play

Accessing the DJ Dashboard

  1. From your event dashboard, click "Event" in the sidebar
  2. Click "DJ Dashboard"
  3. You'll see the dashboard with sharing links and live requests

Sharing Song Request Links

The DJ Dashboard provides two different links for different purposes:

Song Request Form (For Guests)

This is the link guests use to submit song requests from their phones.

  • Copy Link: Copy the URL to share via text message, email, or social media
  • Open: Preview the form to see what guests will experience
  • Print as QR code: Perfect for placing on tables, signs, or near the dance floor

Tip: Print QR codes and place them on tables so guests can easily scan and request songs throughout the event.

Note: Song request links and QR codes are available as soon as you create your event - you don't need to wait for the event to start. Print your QR codes in advance and have everything ready for the big day.

Live Request Display (For DJ / Display)

This is a read-only view designed to be displayed on a screen near the DJ booth.

  • Shows incoming requests in real-time
  • No delete buttons - clean display for the DJ to reference
  • Perfect for a tablet or monitor at the DJ station

Tip: Set up a tablet or small screen near the DJ booth showing this link so the DJ can see requests without needing access to your account.

What Guests See

When guests visit the Song Request Form, they'll see a simple form with:

  • Song Title (required) - The name of the song they want to hear. As guests type, they'll see song suggestions from a music database to help them find the exact song.
  • Artist (required) - The artist or band name (auto-fills when selecting a suggestion)
  • Your Name (optional) - So the DJ knows who requested it

After submitting, their request appears instantly on the DJ Dashboard. If you've configured a cooldown period, guests will see how long they need to wait before submitting another request.

Viewing Song Requests

The Live Requests section shows all submitted song requests with:

  • Song title - The requested song
  • Artist - Who performs the song
  • Request count - How many guests requested the same song
  • Requested by - The guest's name (if provided)
  • Time - When the request was submitted (e.g., "Just now", "2 min ago")
  • Played status - Whether the song has been marked as played

Dashboard Controls

  • Search: Find specific songs or artists instantly
  • Filter tabs: Switch between All, Unplayed, and Played requests
  • Sort options: Sort by Most Requested, Newest, Artist (A-Z), or Title (A-Z)
  • Request Song: Opens the song request form (useful for testing)
  • Refresh: Manually refresh (requests also update automatically in real-time)

Grouped Requests

When multiple guests request the same song, requests are automatically grouped together:

  • See the total request count for each song
  • Expand a group to view individual requesters and their messages
  • Mark all grouped requests as played with a single click

Mark as Played

Track which songs have been played during your event:

  • Click the checkmark button to mark a song as played
  • Played songs show a green "Played" badge and move to the Played tab
  • Click the undo button to unmark if needed
  • The DJ Panel (public display) also shows played status and allows marking songs

Complete Request History

All song requests are permanently stored and accessible throughout your event. You can:

  • View the full history of all requests
  • Filter and search through all submissions
  • Access older requests by loading more from the paginated list
  • Never lose a request - everything is saved

Tips for Success

  • Multiple QR codes: Place song request QR codes on every table and near the dance floor
  • Announce it: Have the MC or DJ mention that guests can request songs by scanning the QR code
  • DJ coordination: Brief your DJ on how the system works before the event
  • Dedicated screen: Set up a tablet showing the Live Request Display at the DJ booth
  • Test beforehand: Submit a test request to make sure everything is working

Show Song Request QR Code on Live Carousel

You can display the song request QR code directly on your live photo carousel:

  1. Open the Live Photos carousel
  2. Click the Settings (gear icon)
  3. Enable "Song Request QR Code"

This periodically shows the song request QR code on the photo display, encouraging guests to request songs while viewing photos. Learn more about setting up your live carousel.
